Life in Croatia for a dog is ruff. Thanks to a fed up neighbor, Medo, a cute dog from Croatia, has been ordered by a temporary court to stop barking at night. If the dog refuses, owner Anton Simunovic must pay a whopping fine of $3,160 USD.
The dog is 3 years old, and has now been confined to a barn between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m, and is no longer able to roam like it was before this whole court debacle. To add insult to injury, Medo is the only dog in Croatia that has been slapped with a no-barking rule.
“He barks normally, like any dog does,” Simunovic said. “He barks when he sees a cat, or if someone unknown comes to his territory.”
Medo’s story has banded people together online. More than 30,000 people have joined a Facebook page supporting Medo since his case made headlines.
A court in Pula still has to make the last ruling, and the fed up neighbor is seeking 1,400 euros in damages. She refused to comment to the media about the case.
