Pay Now. Play Later.

It was his birthday, the 16th of November 2015. It was supposed to be a day of joy, his 50th birthday. 'Golden Jubilee, isn't that what they called it he mused to himself.

In his "self contain" room, he looked around. He had a nylon filled with some clothes and books. And that was it. He had nothing. No one to help. "My life is a huge mess" he thought to himself as tears ran slowky down his cheeks.

Akin had never paid attention to his life in the early years.. Yes, his parents had money and that was all was in his head. Till his parents died and he squandered all the money. His non challant attitude had brought him years of regret but he had  no one but himself to blame.

Many of us fall in this category. You believe there's no need to work hard and play your life away, you might even say to yourself, "I'm still young, I still have time". You are non challant about everything that comes your way ,you miss so many opportunities, waste so much time and at the end you have nothing to show for all your years on earth. What a disaster!

There is really no point of being alive if you don't at least try to do something remarkable. The Creator designed you and uniquely positioned you on Earth for a purpose. You alone are the best person to chart the course of your life the way you want.  Its high time you took responsibility of your life and stop using excuses as one of your main ingredient excuse. Quit the lamentation and get busy. Do something.

The problem with most of us is that we keep assuming that the way we are used to doing something is the only way or the best way to go about it. We never stop to query our assumptions or seek a better way. We move with people who think like us and we oppose those with different ideas, sow e end up with the same. Old inputs, thought patterns and old results.

For some of us, we are just like Akin. And we think that good times last forever. They don't!  Youth doesn't last forever, you'll definitely grow old sometime. Your job will not last forever. It is unwise to use the present to judge the future. Prepare for later. Pay now, so you can play later.

We all encounter opportunities everyday that disguises as difficulties. Everyone has problems so you are not the only one. You have to look up and look ahead to see the opportunities coming your way and prepare for it. You don't take on insurance after an accident, neither do you go to military school after your neighbour has declared war on you.

How old are you today? Self deceit is the worst thing that can happen to a man. You cannot afford to live your life the way others who still have age on their side live theirs.
To build that enviable future that you want, start planning early enough and do not waste time further.
